It's a VERY special day today! It's my sweet friend Joy's birthday. Yup... it's THAT Joy, of Eclectic Paperie's Joy & Daisy.
I just HAD to use this new adorable image from Hangin' Loose with Kona, a new eP exclusive set for her birthday card!
You see the first time I met Joy was at a SU! regional event in Milwaukee. It was February, a hundred degrees below 0 and snowing like crazy. A bunch of us girls were standing at the door (inside!) of the hotel waiting for the airport shuttle to bring Joy and her sister, Joyce. Now, these two girls are PURE Cali girls, so you can imagine what a shock the weather was! LOL!
Well, here they come off the shuttle bus, bundled with multiple layers, giant mucklukk boots and the brightest Hawaiian flowery luggage you've ever seen!
The minute I saw this image and pared it with the Hawaiin flower paper, it just screamed Joy! So, there you go... a peak at eP's new exclusive set and a birthday wish all rolled into one!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY O'JOYOUS ONE!

Life's a Beach
The Featured Stamper over on Splitcoaststampers this week is Debbie Corbari. I just HAD to play in this challenge because Debbie is one of the illustrators for Our Craft Lounge, and I just got 4 of the sets she designed in the mail Saturday. It was FATE I tell ya!
I chose THIS card she created, changing the stamps, papers and colors. I love this new set; Life's a Beach! It has just the right amount of whimsy!
The palm trees are stamped on white, cut out and attached to the blue half circles. I added a tich of Coffee Bean Brown Sparkly Fluff (OCL) to the coconuts. LOVE that stuff!
The umbrella is stamped on pattern paper with Versamark and embossed with clear EP. I cut it out and attached it with a glue dot. The glue dot gave it a little height where a foam dot was just too much.
I think my favorite stamp in the set is this little guy. Isn't he just the cutest crab ever?

Hay chick!
I was browsing through a CK magazine the other day and thought to myself "Why do I get this magazine? I haven't scrapbooked in forever?" And then I saw this layout for a scrapbook page and realized it's because I love to look at the possibilities of taking a page layout and turning it into a card layout!
I used Anna Wight's Crazy for Chickens set. I took some liberties with the chick by giving her a black and white polka dot *coat*. Although if you've seen some of Anna's chicks, a polka dot coat is pretty tame compared to some of them! LOL
Here's a close up of the center panel. I used a rectangle Nestability and smoodged Antique Linen ink around the edges, followed by Spiced Marmalade (both Ranger Distress Inks). *Smoodged* is a technical term meaning to rub ink in a circular motion with a foam blending tool along the edge. :o)
So, what inspires you these days?

Happy To You!
It was our granddaughter's 2nd birthday recently and I wanted to create a card that would have a bit of an interactive element. I chose Mindy's Zoo (Autumn Leaves) because Elise is such a little monkey!
As we neared her birthday, I'd ask her "who has a special day coming up?". Her response was always "Happy To You... ME!" LOL!
Ok... back to the card. I also used Around & About Sentiments (Papertrey Ink) for the sentiment and for the little flowers in the scallop border. The paper and ribbon are all Papertrey Ink
So, I suppose you're wondering about that interactive element. Here's a look at the inside. I stamped the lion, colored and cut him out and attached him to a scallop circle. His main is covered with gold Sparkly Fluff (Our Craft Lounge - LOVE that stuff!) as is the end of his tail.
Once completed I folded a strip of cardstock into an accordion, attached it to the card and to the scallop. When you open the card, the lion bounces.

and the winner is...
It was a crazy busy (but wonderfully good busy) weekend for us. Our youngest daughter graduated from Concordia College (Moorhead, MN)! What a weekend filled with proud mom (and dad) moments.
So, in honor of her achievement, I had her pick the winning number to win the new Bees Knees set from Our Craft Lounge. She picked #88 (the year she was born). And the winner is...
